Many astronomers shun the moon because it is so bright that it makes the entire sky bright and you can’t see dim and distant galaxies. But the Stillwater Stargazers has a group of people that seek to see the moon when seeing the moon is difficult. We call this a Crescent Watch and the goal is to catch a setting moon that is just a few tens of hours past a new moon. It is just a tiny sliver that sets right behind the sun while it is still dusk.
